Random Basement Junk, Volume 2

Last year, I posted a page discussing an assortment of random computer components that I found in the depths of my basement. For the last article of 2022, I searched around the pile of computer junk again & pulled out a couple items that you might find interesting.

The Cooler Master CPU cooler.

One of the first things I found was this giant old CPU cooler. I vaguely remember getting this from a dumpster many years ago, but since then, I've had no use for it.

My spare CPU collection.

Speaking of CPUs, here's my collection of random CPUs that I've found over the years. Of the 5 CPUs, 2 are Pentium 4s, one is a Pentium D, one is a Core 2 Duo, and the last one is an Athlon 64 X2.

The old Nokia brick phone.

I remember a family member giving this Nokia 3595 to me about a year ago. Until I saw it inside a file cabinet while looking for stuff for this article, I totally forgot that I owned it. Since I have no changer for it, I'm not sure if it works or not.

A pile of old optical discs from installing so many different OSes.

These are all the CDs & DVDs I've accumulated from installing various OSes on all my computers. I should really use rewritable discs more often, since most of those discs will never be used ever again.

My bag of useless cables.

No installment of "basement junk" is complete without a cable mess. I'll eventually be throwing away almost all of these cables, though. Over half the space in that bag is taken up by a single 100 foot RJ11 phone cable.

An image of the full basement computer collection.

And finally, here's a photo of the full basement setup. At some point, I'll spend a day or two getting things cleaned up, but that's for another month.

Since this article is being uploaded on December 25th, merry Christmas to everyone reading this. Life has been very busy for me the last couple months, but I still try & have fun with old computer equipment when I can. Hopefully 2023 will bring me more spare time so I can update this site more frequently.
