Lenovo Ideacentre 520-22IKU

Back in February of this year, I featured a fairly modern Lenovo all in one PC that a family member gave to me temporarily. Well, only a couple days after I returned it, it fell off a garage shelf & suffered a broken screen. Thus, because my family has no use for a broken computer, they gave it back to me permanently. After sitting in my basement unused for many months, I finally dug it out & gave it another look.

The Lenovo Ideacentre all in one in January, before it was broken.

Here's what it looked like back when it wasn't broken. I've never been a huge fan of all in one computers, but this one seemed to be of decent quality. The specs are:

And here's what it looks like now. Not only did this thing fall off a shelf when my family had it, but it's also been knocked on to the floor twice since I've owned it. All of that being considered, I'm surprised that the screen is the only thing that's broken.

Here's another image of the screen damage. My next step was to take it apart, but even after over 3 hours of work across multiple days, I still couldn't get it to come apart. After looking up YouTube tutorials on how to disassemble it, it appears that there's no way to take it apart that doesn't involve breaking it. Even after taking every screw out & breaking the screen off, the main chassis will not come apart.

Another image of the Lenovo.

As mentioned earlier, I'm not a fan of all in one PCs, and this shows why. Out of about 25 different computers I've now owned at some point in my life, this is the first one I've been unable to disassemble.

Some time in the future, I'll take this machine outside & break it apart with more advanced tools, but that experiment is for another day. Until then, the crippled Lenovo will sit in my garage collecting more dust.
